DOCUMENT EXAMINATION

Questioned Document Examination is about stroke comparison and not stroke analysis. QDE is identifying the authenticity of a writer. Or the authenticity of a document by examining paper, ink or pencil resin. Stroke analysis is graphology which is identifying personality profiles through handwriting.

Questioned Document Examination includes the following:

  1. Strokes comparison (and not stroke analysis is looking at personalities)
  2. Similarities and consistencies in the sample.
  3. Paper quality and the history of the paper
  4. Ink or pencil residue
  5. Personality profiles are irrelevant in Questioned Document Examination

ANALYSIS OF THE RAMSEY RANSOM NOTE

For legal reasons I am unable to suggest who the writer of this note is, but would like to give you some insight into what was written. I can only address the content and not identify personality traits.

Was this a ransom note or a Red Herring?

In my opinion this note was written to mislead investigators and throw them off track.

Here are 10 clues:

  1. This is an extremely lengthy "note" asking for money.
  2. The language and content of the note are exaggerated and elaborate. The entire tone is artificial contrived, almost scripted.
  3. Two people or more people drafted this note. It is written in an authoritative tone, as if one person had dictated it while the other wrote it -, i.e., "Listen Carefully" is definitely a command. Why not commence with "Read Carefully?"
  4. The language of the note changes often from "We" to "I" throughout.
  5. The author claims that they are a terrorist group, however, the language used is not one of a foreign person, i.e., "You are not the only ‘Fat Cat' around" is truly an American terminology. "Use that good southern common sense of yours" A foreign faction would not make such a distinction of the region from which Mr. Ramsey came.
  6. There are too many self corrections and repaired letters and words which make the note look unnatural.
  7. The writer or writers of the note were familiar with the Ramsey family - They begin with “Mr. Ramsey" and by the end of the note they are speaking to him on a first term basis.
  8. How did they know he was from the south? And how did they know how much his 1995 bonus was?
  9. The amount requested was $118,000.00. Why not write 118 K? The author may have seen Mr. Ramsey's bonus check. The sum of money requested is an odd amount to ask for - knowing how much Mr. Ramsey is worth. Why so little?
  10. As long as this note is, there is no interest in the note to obtain the money. There are no clear instructions of where to deliver it. They stray into areas of threats about killing Jon Benet.

We hope someday this crime will be solved and the killer of Jon Benet will be found and punished. In the meantime keep your children safe.

Rest in peace Jon Benet and Patsy Ramsey.
